Table Matters has been developing a network to build sustainable food systems and make healthy food accessible for everyone living on the North Shore since 2005. This network is building active relationships between local governments and community groups with interests in food security, urban agriculture and local food systems.
Our activities involve promoting, educating, advocating, leading, incubating and partnering on projects on Vancouver’s North Shore. Food is shared around the “Table” during our annual celebrations where network members, including leaders from local municipalities, businesses and the community, gather to discuss current food affairs and future possibilities.
Table Matters is made up of a core Steering Committee who are our Network decision makers. The Steering Committee is made up of representatives from Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH), the City of North Vancouver, the District of North Vancouver, the District of West Vancouver, School District #44, local non-profit organizations and members from the community. oversee projects that support the North Shore Community Food Charter.
Thanks to VCH’s North Shore Food Security funding – along with additional grant funding – community driven projects such as the FoodPrint Challenge and Scaling Up Food Rescue are making food security a reality on Vancouver’s North Shore.
