The 2017 Cost of Eating Report was released this week. This report will be of interest to anyone interested in household food insecurity and assessing the affordability of a healthy diet. It provides food cost data across BC based on the National Nutritious Food Basket. The report also provides background on household food insecurity and the related health implications.
Much work needs to be done with 1/2 million BC residents not being able to afford a healthy diet; 1 in 10 experiencing food insecurity; and, 1 in 6 struggling to feed themselves.
